New Courses

  • BIOL 140 Plants and People [Approved]
  • BIOL 443 Tropical Ecology [Tabled pending conversation between BIOL and ESP]
  • BIOL 444 Tropical Ecology Laboratory [Tabled pending conversation between BIOL and ESP]

Modified Courses

  • BINF 401 Bioinformatics and Computational Biology I [Approved- the committee suggested adding CDS 130 as another option. SSB approved the addition later in the week and it was added to the form prior to submission to the Registrar’s Office.]
  • BIOL 485 Eukaryotic Cell Biology Laboratory  [Approved. It was suggested that the department consider BIOL 213 instead of BIOL 311.]

VI. New Business – Graduate

New Certificate

  • Data Journalism [Tabled pending revisions in concert with CHSS. Suggestions include: 1) The addition of a statistics course. 2) Giving the certificate a more descriptive title that better matches its coursework, suggestions include: adding “geographic,” or “infographic,” or titling it “GeoData Journalism”. 3) Sort out details regarding who admits and advises students.
