Mason Science Slam hosts a public speaking competition for COS students where young scientists give a 10-minute presentation about their research projects to a non-expert audience using any presentation format. The voted final winner of each academic year will receive a $1000 scholarship, funded by the COS Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Ali Andalibi.

The stakes are high as the top two slammers in each of the preliminary rounds will be eligible to compete in the Grand Slam for a $1000 prize. This is a free event. Guests are welcomed and invited to attend. Collect your tickets via Eventbrite beginning Monday, January 4, 2016.

Prelim slammers also compete for $250 first place and $100 second place awards. The stakes are high as the top slammer in each prelim will move on to compete in the Grand Slam for a $1000 prize. Learn about the research students are engaged in and kick off your weekend with a great night of science entertainment. Heavy appetizers and a few laughs are guaranteed.
As a special feature, the COS Alumni Chapter hosts a meet and greet before the main event from 6:30-7pm, where Mason alumni and students can interact and chow down before main the event gets started.
