Congratulations to Dr. Chen Xu, a Postdoctoral researcher at the GGS-affiliate Center for Intelligent Spatial Computing, who has been offered a faculty position at the University of Wyoming (UW). Established in 1886, UW is a nationally recognized research institution with accomplished faculty and world-class facilities. UW’s Geography Department leads geographic education and research in the state of Wyoming. We wish Dr. Xu all the best as he embarks in the new phase of his academic career.
GGS is shaping tomorrow’s education in geoinformation science by placing numerous graduates in tenure-track positions– Dr. Chen is the 6th member of our student community who is successfully transitioning from Mason into an academic career. The other five distinguished alums of our program are Wenwen LI (Arizona State, 2012), Jing Li (University of Denver, 2012), Abdelmounaam Rezgui (New Mexico Tech, 2012), Caixia Wang (Univ. of Alaska-Anchorage, 2013), and Qunying Huang (Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison, 2013). The selection of six Mason alums for tenure-track faculty positions in established national Universities over the past three years is the best indicator of the recognition of our Department as a leading force in Geoinformation Science.
