Assistant Professor Geography/GIS

Tarleton State University is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Geography/GIS/Geospatial Intelligence, to help launch and establish TSU’s new major in Geography/GIS.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in geography, geospatial science, or a closely related field.
Essential Duties:
Teach undergraduate courses in human geography and GIS.
Mentor and advise students in the new geography/GIS major.
Curriculum and course development, including the ability to create a new “pre-GIS” course.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Geography or closely related field
Commitment to and demonstration of being able to teach difficult concepts of GIS to students with no CS and/or GIS background.
Preferred Qualifications and Training:
Expertise and experience in the area of geospatial intelligence, with the knowledge and ability to teach upper-level courses in geospatial intelligence, supervise/mentor/advise students who wish to specialize in the area of geospatial intelligence.
