The Forensic Science program addresses the growing national and regional demand for trained forensic scientists and technicians. The degree program combines a solid foundation in legal and technical crime scene investigation with scientific skills relevant to forensics, and it is therefore especially relevant for students involved in the high-technology law enforcement workplace in Northern Virginia.

Demonstrate their application of skills and knowledge that they have acquired through their internship experience in a professional environment.

Use the primary scientific literature effectively in their own research.

Demonstrate competency in written forms of scientific communication.

Apply the principles of writing a standard laboratory report.

Exhibit proficiency in the operation of analytical instrumentation and the evaluation of experimental data.

Formulate scientific explanations based on historical observations and experimental evidence, accounting for variability in experimental results.

Master’s of Science, Forensic Science

Demonstrate competency in the collection, processing, analysis, and evaluation of evidence.

Apply the use of creativity in problem solving.

Use primary scientific literature effectively in their own research.
