Position Open for Research Assistant

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at George Mason University is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person for a laboratory technician/research assistant position to work on a nanobiotechnology project to discover new antiviral biomolecules. This project is part of a multidisciplinary effort involving polymer chemistry, biochemistry, proteomics, virology and mass spectrometry.

The primary focus of this position is will be research, with some lab management responsibilities. The research assistant will work closely with the principal investigator and graduate students on the project. This position is responsible for performing tasks and experiments in support of ongoing proteomic/peptidomic technology and discovery-related scientific investigations.

The successful candidate will have a B.S. or M.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline, preferably with experience in the areas of polymer chemistry and biochemistry/molecular biology. Experience with mass spectrometry would be advantageous.
