Dr. Peggy Agouris received her Dipl. Eng. from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and her M.S. and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining George Mason University in 2007, Dr. Agouris was with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (1993 – 1995) and the University of Maine (1996 – 2006).
Dr. Agouris’ research interests include the automation of processes for spatiotemporal information extraction from digital imagery, change detection, and the integration of remote sensing and digital image processing and analysis within geospatial information systems.
Dr. Agouris has received more than $28 million in external research funding. She is the recipient of an NSF CAREER award from the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate of NSF. Her work has been supported by further grants and contracts from NSF, NASA, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Army TEC, BAE Systems, USGS, and others. Dr. Agouris has also consulted for the Office of Research and Development (CIA), Milcord, Intergraph, BAE Systems, law firms (as expert witness), and other companies.
