College of Science Announces Convocation Speaker

Convocation ceremonies for the College of Science begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, in the Concert Hall. All graduating students, along with their friends and families, are invited to attend.

This year’s keynote speaker is Raymond W. Smith, chairman of Rothschild North America and founder of Arlington Capital Partners. During his 40-year career at Verizon Communications Inc., Smith held a variety of leadership positions and retired as chairman and chief executive officer in 1998. An active participant in numerous civic, charitable and cultural organizations, Smith continues to serve on the boards of several prestigious corporations and foundations. He also serves as a member of the college’s advisory board.

A new highlight of this year’s program is a student speaker, to be selected from graduating seniors through a nomination process.
