Computational and Data Sciences

"The field of computational science is a rapidly advancing frontier research area, known as the third paradigm of science next to experimentation and theory."

—Peter Sloot, Editor in Chief,
Journal of Computational Science,
on Elsevier’s May 2010 announcement
of the launch of the publication

Using the most advanced computing systems around the country, students’ working in the Department of Computational and Data Sciences focus on theoretical science, numerical simulation, and data analysis.

Research, Internships, and Career Opportunities

Opportunities for research in the department are plentiful and varied. Topics as diverse as computational and fluid dynamics, computational astrophysics, and materials sciences are covered. Research coordinators for current research topics can be contacted individually.
