Graduating Students

  • Where do I report to line up if I am an undergraduate or master's student?
    Arts Plaza between Mason Hall and the Concert Hall. Marshals and staff will be present to assist you to line up with your program.
  • Where do I line up if it is raining the day of convocation?
    Meet in the long hallway that extends from the College of Fine Arts into the Concert Hall. Staff will be available on the Arts Plaze to direct you to the correct area.
  • Where do I report if I am a doctoral student?
    Meet at 1:20 PM with your regalia in the Black Box Theater located off the Arts Plaza in the Center. There will be staff to direct you.
  • Is there paperwork I need to fill out to participate in the convocation?
    You need to be sure that you have completed all necessary requirements for graduation and have filed your intent for graduation with the Registrar’s Office.
  • Do I need tickets for convocation?
    No
  • What should I wear?
    Cap and gown which you purchase from the bookstore.
  • Can I bring anything with me?
    No. Please do not bring purses, bags or cell phones.
  • Are cell phones permitted?
    As a courtesy to speakers on the stage, guests and fellow graduates, graduates are not permitted to talk on cell phones prior to and during the ceremony.
  • Will I receive my diploma at convocation?
    No. The University will mail that to you upon certification of your grades.
  • Will a photographer take my picture?
    Yes. When you are on stage with the Dean.
  • Do I have to prepay for my pictures?
    No. You will be mailed a proof and at that time, you may place an order.
  • My friends have a different major than I do. Can I sit with them during the convocation?
    No. You must sit with your major group.
  • I have a double major. Who do I line up with?
    You may choose the major you prefer and proceed with that group.
  • How will the reader know to call out my name?
    You will fill out a reader card as you line up on the Arts Plaza. You will hand the card to the reader before you cross the stage. Please write neatly and spell out your name phonetically.
