Requirements for B.S. in Biology

Concentration in Biotechnology

In addition to university-wide general education requirements, students getting a B.S. in biology with a concentration in biotechnology must complete the following course work.

  1. 25 credits in biology, including BIOL 213, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 311, 492 (or 494)
  2. 19 credits in biotechnology, including BIOL 385, 483 and other courses chosen from:
  3. BIOL 312, 322, 380, 402, 403*,405, 406, 418**, 425, 452, 453*, 465, 482, 484, 486, 497**, 506**, 553, 556, 563, 568, 572, 575**, 580
    * Laboratories associated with courses are required.
    ** Subject to approval by program coordinator.
  4. 18 credits in chemistry, including CHEM 211, 212, 313, 314, 315, 318
  5. 8 credits of physics: PHYS 243, 244, 245, 246
  6. At least 6 credits from the following: MATH 110, 111, 113, 114, or STAT 250
  7. 3 credits of computer skills: IT 103
