Certificate in Advanced Biomedical Sciences

George Mason University and Georgetown University are pleased to announce an academic partnership for the future, GeorgeSquared at the state-of-the-art Prince William Campus.

We are now offering a new post-baccalaureate Advanced Biomedical Sciences Certificate program for careers in the health professions starting in Fall, 2010

Is the ABS right for you? This 10-month, 20 credit certificate provides excellent advanced science preparation for health professions including medical, dental and other healthcare-related advanced studies. It also includes preparation for professional examinations (MCAT, DAT), and outstanding advising and support towards your goals.

What are the criteria for application to the ABS?

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a GPA of about 3.0
  • The desire to pursue a career in health professions (medicine, dentistry, etc)
  • Completion of, or expected completion of, all prerequisite courses for medical, dental, veterinary or other healthcare-related schools
  • Limited training in sciences at the undergraduate level (non-science majors, for example) or modest grades in sciences as undergraduates
  • Overall credentials suitable for acceptance to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
  • Three letters of recommendation

What is the curriculum? Coursework support can be tailored to the individual student’s needs if necessary.
